I’ve received word of Mom and Dad’s safe arrival back home. I think they were relieved to have “real” food. The food is pretty good here, but too much rice, not enough fiber, seems to plague even the most savvy Asian travelers. Don’t get me wrong, the freshness of the produce and the amount of fresh, high-quality protein, like fish and chicken’s feet, really makes for a healthy diet.
I’ve got tons of pictures from this trip, enough to keep the posts coming for a long time. I keep thinking I’ll embed flickr, but have yet to do so. Many of you may also have noted that, depending upon your screen size or what browser you are using, the text and pictures of this blog can get a bit skewed and disorganized. I’d love to say I had a fix or was working on this problem, but I don’t and am too lazy to change my page format. So please just deal with it for now.
Here are some more pictures of my most recent escapades:
The Beijing Olympic Park is now just another “artifact” of this huge city. It’s architecture is much more inspiring than that of the rest of Beijing. Sadly, the paint is pealing and the windows are glazing over.
We visited the Summer Palace, where the emperor and empress once escaped the cruel Beijing summer heat.
It’s lakeside paths are now packed with tourists and locals alike. The guy on the left is flying a kite.
Read it again. It’s a sweet rhyme, if I do say so myself.
17 Gable Bridge.
And then there was Hot Pot. It’s a Szechuan meal where you cook your own food in a boiling pot. It’s really, really spicy and really, really good. For further reading, refer to Hot Pot Cookin’. Notice that we all have beers AND waters to extinguish our flaming mouths.
Until next time,
Jay

Glad to see/read that you had a great time with Viki and the family. I would like to see a picture of the Incense Temple with the light shining upon it
(if the haze settles)
